The farmers involved with the BETTER Farm NI programme undertook a two day study trip around the west and midlands of Ireland last week, looking at the different systems of suckler-beef production in Ireland.
The group visited the Newford Herd in Athenry and were given a detailed overview of the how the herd was established, the daily running operation and the targets that have been set.
Discussion was facilitated by farm manager Matthew Murphy, James Keane of Teagasc and Declan Keely of Dawn Meats.
