Herd Update 10.10.16

General Details

  • Ground conditions have  improved over the last week
  • Forward finishing cattle are on 6 Kgs of meal per day and round bales of silage
  • Other finishing cattle are on 5 Kg of meal and round bales of silage
  • First of the weaning commence on Monday the 10th October
  • 18 weanlings have been weaned and further 19 will be weaned on Thursday the 13th
  • Average weight of the first group of bull weanlings  weaned is 333kgs ( ADG of 1.34 Kgs)
  • Average weight of the first group of heifers weanling weaned is 308 Kgs ( ADG of 1.20 Kgs)
  • Weaned cows put on slats to and fed straw to dry off.
  • Slurry was been spread during the last few dry days.
  • Weanling’s forward creeping under the electric wire are consuming on average 1.1 Kg of meal per day
  • 18 hectares of grass  has been closed off so far this year
